Wednesday, January 3th A very pleasant day... I was up since 3 or 4 a.m. working on this site. My brother took me to Starbucks, and later I stopped by his lawyer's office to say goodbye, since she works nearby. Darlene and Buzz Lightyear came to pick me up around 11 a.m., and we went back to her place to hang out with the boys. She is quite lucky to a) have three beautiful boys and b) have the luxury of staying home to be with them while they are still young. It's tradition that I spend time with them like this, and as usual, we ate spaghetti with meat sauce for lunch. The boys loved it, and SO DID I. YUMMY. More pictures in the photo album:

Buzz Lightyear had to stop and kill off some more enemies lurking on the dining room table but Matthew was a cooperative Little Indian. Time flew right by, and then we all plowed into the car to head for the airport. On the way, we stopped by to pick up Jeff (good thinking!), checked my bags in and went to Starbucks, since I had another hour to kill.
The kids were all asleep in the back seat, so the three of us squeezed in the front and drank our drinks. HOW FUNNY. We always have a lot of fun together. We passed by Crystal Park 2 which brought back a lot of memories about a guy I dated exactly 11 years ago this time, the first Chinese-American I ever went out with. We both used to work in that building. Back then, it never occurred to me that we would ever break up. So naive, eh? Oh well. Such is life. He was a sweetie but MAN did I ever torture him. Hey that was ELEVEN years ago OKAY? Now I am a GROWN WOMAN.

The flight to Dallas was uneventful though I should comment here that American Airlines actually apologized both to Mom via telephone and to me via email, per my written request (although I really didn't expect that they'd honor it... I'm always telling people to apologize to me but they never do...), about the mess that we both had to contend with. They even waived the associated service fees. Kudos to AA. I appreciated the effort. This was my first time flying through Dallas, Fort Worth. I wish I had something interesting to say about the airport... but I don't. I was, however, amused by this ad about Andersen Consulting's name change to Accenture. For all intensive purposes... that name SUCKS.

Am I a writer?
I stopped into the bookstore to see if I could find the books that John had recommended yesterday, but they were not in stock. Instead, I picked up a copy of "Elements of Style", thinking that I could use a refresher on writing fundamentals. Just as I sat down at the gate to read it, a man sitting in front me asked me a question that threw me COMPLETELY off guard. He said,
HUH? Am I a writer?! I had NO IDEA how to answer that! I actually had a mini-panic attack. Well, uh, no, I, um, well I do ENJOY writing, but I, I, I've actually never had any formal training, um, I HAVE put my journals online and I AM sort of telling people that I'm producing a SHOW about my life in Taipei but really it's uh, it's all pretty much *** because I'm not really a writer PER SE but then I thought, Christine, would you just SHUT UP.
