You are what you eat...

Busy as *bleep* today so this entry will be a short one. It's about my diet. Some people think that I have really poor eating habits. Others think that I'm weird because I don't particularly like Chinese food, a double sin as I'm Chinese and I live in Taiwan. Fact of the matter is that I used to live on soups (TONG), salads (SALAH), and sandwiches (SAN MIN TZE) in the United States of America. If that makes me all-American, then, that's what I yam!

I've just never been able to convert to rice and noodles as a dietary norm. It's starchy, it's heavy, and it makes me feel first full and then hungry. Thus, in Taiwan, I find myself drawn to the BK Lounge and KFCs, that which I rarely ate in America.

Not that I dislike Chinese food altogether. Actually, there are many food items that I do like. I just don't crave them enough to get excited about it, and quite frankly, the thought of all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets makes me ill. None of this "AsianFusion" hogwash. Give me a freakin' Reuben and don't forget my PICKLE. On that note, this is what I had for lunch today:

From top left, we have congealed pig's blood, gooey stir-fried eggplant, spicy intestines with chopped cucumbers, and your standard rice noodles. Not shown is a stick of fried imitation shrimp. This combination is what I often have for lunch during the weekdays in Taiwan. Without the rice of course. OOO YUM YUM.

When I am on travel, or if I know that stressful times lie ahead, I consciously eat more fruits and vegetables and drink more water, just to make sure I don't get sick. And I always skip one meal on the plane for every two that I have. So far so good. I don't remember the last time I've gotten sick. And my weight doesn't fluxuate. Not complaining.

Dinner with Adella...

Not. Adella just got back today and called me at work to say hey. We decided to have dinner tonight and to meet back at the apartment in the evening to figure out where we would eat. When I got home from work, she was crashed out on her bed. Big time jet lag. I hopped into mine, and neither of us ever got back up. Thus, no din din for us.
