Thursday, October 12th

I do my best thinking when I'm walking to and from work but made the mistake this morning of checking emails BEFORE logging in to this journal.

I read 5 industry newsletters, 4 emails from friends and 3 error reports from .ORG, deleted a couple of joke forwards, and answered questions from Mom.

By the time I was done, I was totally wired.

Lesson learned. From now on I'll spend my 10 minutes with this journal first before I check email.

About last night...

So the Ricky Martin concert was, eh. He's a great performer for sure, shaking his butt all over the stage, but I guess I wasn't as "into" it as I thought I'd be although Adella and Laurie thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Adella is now obsessed with him. Laurie got a t-shirt to wear so that she can "run with Ricky". And I saw Serean at the entrance who introduced me to her friends. One of them was very, very, handsome... woah... The best part of the show was Coco Lee's unannounced guest appearance. She did a duet with Ricky Martin, and that was awesome.

We headed for Dan Ryan's afterwards and ran into Dennis and Linda who joined us for dinner and Bob and Jimbo who were at the bar. They were all at the concert too. Adella kept wondering out loud where Ricky Martin might be partying tonight after the show. Naturally, Bob had the answer.

"Hmmm... what do you suppose he will want to do... go dancing maybe? Sing KTV?"

Peggy was on vacation with Brandon, so Dennis was on his own this week and was missing his family... aw... When he was single, he said, every night was a mission to HOOK UP. Now that he's married, "it changes everything". With the family away, he now sits at home and eats dinner in front of the t.v. LOL. But then he shared his philosophy on life, that someone else once shared with him. It threw us all off guard.

"If you (men) really want to be happy, fall in love with your wife".

About Today...

I got an email this morning from Wennie who was in the U.S. on business. She writes:

     "HELLO everyone!
Just want to let you know that Wennie is back in the HOUSE!!
Please feel free to give me a call to say hello because... you know you want to."

Now why would I include such trivia in my journal?

Because it's so darn funny that's why. Here we are pretending to be such hard-working, aggressive, serious-minded professionals pursuing international careers in Greater China and traveling the world over when really, we're all just a bunch of loonies.

I was a little frustrated today because I couldn't proceed with the invites, mostly because there was a glitch in the jobs database. Apparently the key counter was acting up so Gus needs to fix that before we can start sending out the invitations.

What this probably means is that the new marketing program will have to be pushed back to early next week yet again. We assume that recruiters aren't going to pay much attention to random email sales pitches on a Thursday afternoon... although the smart thing to do would be to find out for sure, huh. When IS the optimal day in the week to send email marketing materials to recruiters?

Good question.

Didn't get much accomplished this afternoon though I did get a chance to catch up with Wennie at lunch. Afterall, she is back in the HOUSE. I also had a very interesting conversation with Ron Faruqui - the Tea Man - who was hanging out at Ginny's office. Ron is Ginny's brother's friend from the States who used to work for EDS and various other IT consulting firms. Smart guy, and quite professional on the phone. Later, he forwarded his email address to me so that we could keep in touch. In his message, he wrote, "Howdy Doody".

Yet another loonie at large. They're everywhere...
