Wednesday, October 25th True Confessions... For some reason I get such a kick out of inside jokes (even if I'm the only one who gets it, which is often the case) and slight embellishments of the real thing. Alright sometimes I outright make things up. Here is a classic example.
Yesterday I got the photos back from the party, and as I was posting them to the site, I just couldn't help myself. I had to tell a story. Any story. And then the story grew into a whole tale, and that tale became awfully funny. A day later, it still makes me laugh. I think it was also because I pulled it together late in the evening and was just TIRED and in a goofy mood. In a way, this was my official first attempt at writing humor. I showed it to all parties involved, and I do believe they enjoyed it too. I think... I'm beginning... to understand... what makes... a personal site... popular... and I have got some ideas up my little sleeve... More importantly, I also showed it to my family and close friends back home. It accomplished exactly what I want this site to do, and that is, to share my life with them.
Gus and I sent out the second invitations to the recruiters, and this time, we SCORED. WOO HOO! We worked hard on this one baby, and tomorrow should give us a few more. I am happy. I still need to finish the operational expenses for .COM and it is still killing me. Worse is that I don't really know what I'm doing. Staff expense makes up a huge chunk of operational costs obviously but pay scales are so very different from one city in Greater China to the next. I have never written a business plan for a start-up in the U.S. but it has got to be easier than a regional one for Greater China. HELP.
Tommy stopped by to say hello, took one look at all of my new anti-carpal tunnel devices, and said, "Man. You went ape sh*t." He coerced me into taking a break, and we went to have coffee with Ginny who ended up serving us well, wine. What a life eh. I feel right at home with these guys. Too bad we couldn't do this every day!

Introducing... JADE Magazine! It never ceases to amaze me the doors that O has opened, as tonight, I met Ellen, co-founder of Jade Magazine who is in town from New York with her husband and family. We had dinner at the Morrocan restaurant behind Hung-Kuo along with Acer Ginny (who first introduced us over email), and Ellen's friend Cherolyn, who was also visiting Taiwan.
![]() This is the very first time we met in person since establishing cross-promotional relations over a year ago. And it was AWESOME. Cherolyn is a total riot, and it was especially great to talk with Ellen since we share so much in common. Jade Magazine and ORIENTED have led, and are leading, parallel lives.
![]() True story: See this collage of eyebrows? Well one set is mine... the really BUSHY ones. Audrey and Ellen apparently published an article about eyebrows in last year's Aug/Oct issue and had used an old photo of mine - prior to my discovery of the "plucker" - without telling me. Nasty... lol! ELLEN??!!
