Introducing... Richard Hartzell!

Gus and I met with Richard Hartzell for lunch today, the well-known human rights activist for the international community here in Taiwan. He has tentatively agreed to moderate our "Legal Matters forum" and will be contributing articles to our website from time to time. Having him on board is yet one more bonus for O. Needless to say, we are totally psyched.

To opt-in or not to opt-in...

Today was a very tiring day. Mostly because of the increased activity to the site as a result of our recent marketing program. It was MOST DEFINITELY worth the effort, but now we really have to focus on how to automate all of the systems we currently have.

This double opt-in feature for our Email Bulletins is a great idea in theory, but in actuality we lose a lot of people because of it. For whatever reason, many do not confirm their initial subscriptions, and the effort it takes for us to REMIND them to do so, and then to keep track of who we reminded, is time consuming.

How do we practice responsible email marketing without losing potential subscribers?

Gus and his new toy...

I can't wait for Gus to get off this new kick of his. He got this dirt cheap digital camera last week from one of the trade shows at the Exhibition Hall and has been going nuts with it. Obviously there is much to be desired in terms of the quality.

The above photos with Richard Hartzell were also taken with that same camera, as was this one here. He's going nuts with the animation feature and forced me to "do something" with my mice. I know it's hard, but try not to laugh.
