Wednesday, November 1st And it's all about Mike. I cannot believe it's already November. I woke up listening to the radio reports of the Singapore Airlines crash at the CKS Airport last night. It makes me ill just thinking about it. Anyway, I got an email from Mike this morning which cracked me up. But let me digress for a moment. He had called yesterday to run over a couple of things. One of the topics on his agenda was to get me to sign up for AsiaWorks.
Before I continue, let me preface this with a little background. A few months ago, both Wendy and Mark took the course together and decided they were going to make sure that their friends would take it too, as it "changed their lives forever". Mike and I were having dinner at Mr. Pacos when both of our cell phones went off. Mark was calling Mike, desperate to meet with him THAT night, but couldn't say why over the phone. Wendy was calling me with the exact same, cryptic request. They didn't realize we were together. Naturally, Mike and I became concerned. We had no idea what was going on and could only assume that there was trouble. Little did we know that it was just a PLOY to get us to sign up for AsiaWorks. I didn't fall for it. Obviously, Mike did. Sucker!
Mike the Statesman.
At the office, I am more than happy to sit down and go over every single proposal of why something should or should not be done and as many times as it takes until we come up with a solution. But when it comes to my personal time, "no" is NO. There is no logic, and if someone asks me for the third time if I want to do something that I've already said I do not want to do twice before, I am no longer polite about the matter. Mike understands this and knows how to get around it. I think that's why I like him so much.
The name game.
iAsiaWorks is a much bigger company in size, but AsiaWorks is quite established out here, at least within the circles I run. Gus and Jeannie have both taken courses, Laurie's work naturally keeps her in the loop, Acer Ginny signed up this month, Mark and Wendy and now Mike have all taken it and are actively spreading the word, and eventually, I'm sure I'll take it too (just to get them off my back). Obviously there are many businesses with the same or similar names, but does anyone do any research at ALL before they go and decide on a company name? Or did they do the research and decide that it was okay to have the same name anyway. How FUNNY would it be if iAsiaWorks ever has an identity crisis and decides they need AsiaWorks corporate training services to help them find direction.
I'm sorry, but... I just made myself laugh out loud.

I told him that this site was going to be the most widely viewed personal site in the whole wide world, and I sent him a preview link to give him an idea of what I was up to. He writes back this morning with an "I don't really understand why anyone would want to read your personal diary but you can explain it to me later." Ahem. Mike just became my #2 challenge, next to Wayne. Gentlemen. I am about to SUCK YOU IN.
