Why I do the things I do...

I was online with Little Joe earlier this morning. He was questioning the effectiveness of my efforts with this website so I ended up writing a really long missive to him, mostly for myself than for him, about why I am putting so much time and attention on this website and how it all relates to me personally and to ORIENTED. It was a cool exercise, glad I did it.

By the time I finished, it was lunch time, so Wennie and I took off for Warners since it was so nice outside. We walked by all the construction going on for the Taipei EXPO event. It is a HUGE production. I regret not taking my camera out with me but that's why I need to get at least one more. LOL. I grabbed some coffee later on in the afternoon and stopped in to say hello to Ginny who had just purchased 100 more new fish. Neat, huh?

Hey Ginny! Hey fish!     Hey Coffee Lady!

Hey Fishie!     Hey me! (stupid)

Need to be very nice to my corporate sponsors...

Yesterday I must have sent out at least five proposals to potential corporate sponsors, including Starbucks, iAsiaWorks, FNAC, and Far EasTone. We'll see how it goes. I actually met David H. from Far EasTone at an IPO event many months back and happened to run into him on the streets last weekend. My In the Press page has come in handy, as I suspected, as were my short-lived efforts with IPO.

Today was essentially follow-up work, including a proposal I sent to the editor (I think) of the Discover Taipei magazine about a possible cross-promotional relationship between them and ORIENTED. I had heard that they were not going to have a website up for some time, so the pitch I made was that we could republish some of their articles on our homepage. In return, I asked for a small placement about O in their magazine. We'll see how it goes. Am having dinner with Andrea tonight, so I'll try to take some photos (this digital camera is just too easy to use, makes me want to take pictures of everything) and post them up tomorrow.

Can you tell by my writing that I am TIRED today? I think I need a vacation. FYI, it took me all of fifteen minutes to write up the text for this page, upload the pictures, code and then post this entry. Been timing myself just to see how long it does take. Am I good or what.

Oh and by the way, sign of the times... they finally figured out who our next President will be. Bush, Jr. Or did they... Gore is contesting, but the bottom line is, game's over, regardless of who really did have more votes. It's called good timing, and successful manipulation of public opinion on the part of the Bush campaign. Even if Gore and his lawyers can force the recounts and get himself into office by proving that he had more votes, who would respect him after the fact? Game's over Al. Give it up, give it up...
