Sunday, December 3rd A lazy Sunday in Taipei... Well... Laurie and I were hoping to go to the beach but it was cloudy in the morning. It wouldn't be so unusual for us to go to the beach in December as it's been done in previous years, but the weather has been really funky as of late. Instead, we went out to get coffee@Starbucks.com and noted the Christmas tree that was up in the store. Naturally, we were inspired to put ours up too. Ta dum! Merry, Merry Christmas!
Quynh will be happy to know that the little tree she gave me just before she left Taiwan has been put to good use. That's the one good thing about sticking around Taipei even after all of your old friends have left - you get all of the stuff they couldn't dump or take with them. How funny. Our couch was also donated by her and Nelson... well... sort of... I was suppose to sell it for them OOPS. Believe me I tried!
Laurie and I had purchased a 6-foot tall Christmas tree years back but decided to use the little one this year instead. Quynh is such a detail-oriented person. Too bad I couldn't take a close-up picture of the little ornaments she bought. They are really cute. Anyway, by the time Adella got home from teaching, it really did feel like Christmas in our apartment. The only thing we were missing was a fireplace and stockings to hang.

I tried to stay away from the computer today and just chill out, but I ended up spreading all of the paperwork I had for ORIENTED and HeyChristine.com -- work-in-progress documents -- all over my bed. It seriously looked like a bomb went off in my room. Laurie watched "One True Thing" which I had seen before, though I did sit down and watch parts of it with her. That was one very well-done film, and now I am convinced that Laurie looks a lot like Renee Zellweger. She (Laurie I mean) and I later on grabbed sandwiches at Subway and thought about throwing a Christmas drop-in party of some sort, though I'm not sure when we'd find the time. Also, I bought myself the coolest vanity mirror and bar of soap at a gift store called Working House I think. Check it out.
I also went a little happy with my digital camera and took a picture of where I work at home... on the floor. I'm not sure when I started doing this but I think it had something to do with my carpal tunnel and my needing to reposition the way I type on my laptop. So Mom... go ahead and say it... MESSY MESSY. And now the whole world knows (ROFL, literally).
Speaking of hand-me-downs, the basket and wooden bookshelf in the background were given to me by Carol, just before SHE left. My Sunday brunch buddy. Carol come BACK please. I miss you!! NO ONE WILL HAVE SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH ME SINCE YOU LEFT... awwwwwww!! I'M SO SAD... NO ONE GIGGLES THE WAY YOU DO!
