Saturday, December 23rd No doze... I was up until 3 a.m. the night before trying to finish off a few more sections on the site and then had to get up 3 hours later to take some relatives to the airport. I do believe that my most favorite drive on the East Coast is GW Parkway going north into Maryland. It made me forget how tired I was for that brief moment in time. Driving up the Parkway is one thing I must do whenever I'm in town. Back at the house I had just enough time to finish off the UBB configurations before dropping off my rental car. Lisa and Alex met me there, and then we grabbed breakfast at a diner nearby. It was SO GREAT to catch up with them, and to finally sit down and talk with Alex. I keep forgetting how warped Lisa's mind is until I actually see her again, it's no wonder that we are friends. Two hours went by way too fast and then I had to go. More pictures:

They dropped me off at the Metro, which I have not taken in years, and that was awesome. Brought back a lot of memories. Routing through Cincinnati wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, although my experience IN the Cincinnati airport was less than desirable.
![]() I went to use the Internet cafe where they claimed to have a T1 connection, but 4 out of 5 booths I checked into wouldn't even CONNECT. When I brought it to the attention of the guy working there, he says, "Look, it's not OUR fault!" Great. And it gets better. After I was done and was paying at the register, I said him, "You might want to mention to people who come in to use your service that most of your computers are not connected." His reaction? He pouted. Great. I was about to write up an entire entry about that and post up the company name, URL and manager's name, but this time, I shall refrain. This is HeyChristine.com, not the BBB (Better Business Bureau) of the WWW, and besides, it's my freakin' birthday.
IN ANY CASE, I happened to notice on the departure monitors that an earlier flight home was delayed, so I took off for the gate, got on standby, and made it. WOO HOO. Everyone else around me was pretty pissed because evidently that flight had been substantially delayed. Oh the joys of holiday travel. As Mark says, everything's relative.
